Who is Eamon?
(Taken from an early blog post)
My name’s Eamon Burke, I don’t believe in rhetorical questions. People find it hard to deal with the fact that I leave no question uninvestigated. I don’t set out to insult, nothing I say or do is intended solely to harm. I have a wide array of passions and interests, and most of the things I really think about these days cannot be put into words. I’d either make a wonderful or miserable student.
I love questions–riddles, trivia, history, even the indeterminate/theoretical/subjective. I do hold strong beliefs about things, and have no desire to separate my opinion from fact. The truth is, I always thought it a bit ridiculous that every single thing someone states in an academic setting must be proven to have first been said by some other guy, preferably dead, and written down. Otherwise, it can’t be true! I hold that the burden of proof lies on the prosecution, though most people are too lazy to learn the HOW and(more importantly) WHY of what they believe or know; and those that do are no longer trained in how to be civil or even sporting.
That’s enough of that! After all, most introductions to people are more like disclaimers or sales pitches. Wanna know something? Ask!
